Hawaii International Film Festival 2009

Layover, on the Shore interweaves two parallel stories of contemporary Honolulu. In the first, "The Nursery", Laura reconnects with an old friend when she returns home to visit her sick grandmother. Halfway through, this story abruptly reveals itself to be a film-within-a-film and we move on to the second story, which follows the aimless young director of "The Nursery", Cameron, as over the course of one meaningful night he is inspired to make a film about his home. Taken as a whole, Layover, on the Shore explores the theme of transition and the tension between real and imagined notions of paradise.
