Hawaii International Film Festival 2009

HIFF fan-favorite Katsuhiro Ishii, director of Taste of Tea (2005 LVHIFF Golden Maile winner) is back, his (arguably insane) sense of humor intact, with this computer animated short film, comprised of seven “episodes” of assorted madness starring the outer-space stand-up comedy duo the Hokuro Brothers. In this film the brothers, who also appeared in a live action segment of Ishii’s deliciously weird and unforgettable Funky Forest (LVHIFF 2005), put on their act (imagine the three stooges tweaking on crystal meth), deal with occasional guest stars (including a dinosaur), and talk behind the scenes in their dressing room.

Ishii’s immaculate sense of comic timing and his unique eye for the weird and wonderful will make this a mind-bending treat for any discerning cineaste. Funky Forest fans and Ishii worshippers are advised that they will never forgive themselves if they miss seeing this on the big screen.
