THE DRIFTER chronicles a man’s search for purpose and life outside of professional surfing. World-renown surf champion, Rob Machado finds himself weary of the surf circuit he is used to. In a competition in Bali, he comes across the same faces and scene, and makes the decision to step out of his comfort zone. Rob buys a motorcycle and with nothing more than a backpack, tent and (of course) surfboard heads for distant regions of Indonesia. While looking for the perfect waves and respite from the crowds, he stumbles upon an isolated village and during his stay becomes a part of the community. When it is time Rob to leave, he takes with him a renewed enthusiasm for surf and purpose. In addition to its life affirming narrative, THE DRIFTER is filled with incredible surf footage amidst the beautiful backdrop of Indonesia that viewers will be sure to enjoy. – Minette T. Ferrer
